June is Brain Injury Awareness Month

As you may or may not know, June is Brain Injury Awareness month.  50,000 Canadians sustain brain injuries each year and incidence rates are on the rise.

Want to improve your brain function and overall well being?  Try this tasty recipe for a Berry and Pecan Summer Salad:

  • 2-4 cups romaine spring mix
  • 2-4 cups spinach
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh rasberries
  • 1/4 cup pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup chickpeas
  • 1/2 avocado, cubed
  • 2 oz goat cheese
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup blueberry puree

Did You Know:  Blueberries, avocados, salmon, nuts and seeds are the best foods to improve brain function and memory.  They are also rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids and are high in vitamins and minerals.
